PRESS RELEASE 25th March 2009 Cross-channel curries for local pub

Tuesday night curries at The Olde Cross in Ryton village have proved so popular that orders are now being taken from mainland Europe. One diner received a call on Tuesday night from a friend at Schipol airport in Amsterdam asking him to order a lamb bhuna to takeaway, as he wasn’t going to make it back in time and chef, Leigh-Anne Wilson, was happy to oblige. Leigh- Anne, 23, and her mum, Carol, started up Tuesday curry nights back in July and its popularity has grown, with the chefs regularly serving over 60 diners in this picturesque village pub Leigh-Anne, who will take over joint ownership of the pub with current manager, Terri-Anne Robinson, at the beginning of April, said: “We are delighted with the success of curry night but even we were shocked to receive an order from Amsterdam.  “Terri and I are really excited for the future of the pub and have lots of plans to build on its popularity.

The Olde Cross is also the main venue for the Ryton Hirings Festival which is taking place on Saturday 23rd May 2009. For further information contact Terri-Anne Robinson or Leigh-Anne Wilson on 01914134689

The Olde Cross serves fresh homemade authentic curries between 6pm and 9pm every Tuesday night and traditional Sunday roasts with huge Yorkshire puds and meat-juice gravy, between noon and 4pm.
